Russian e-cinemas to lose Harry Potter, Fantastic Beasts on Jan 31
MOSCOW, Jan 27 (PRIME) -- The film series Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts will disappear from Russian online cinemas Kinopoisk and Okko from January 31, the online platforms said late on Thursday in statements.
“Available till January 31,” a notice on Kinopoisk read when searching for the films.
An industry source told PRIME that Amediateka, in partnership with which the films were played, had failed to extend the rights.
A spokesperson for Kinopoisk said that the film series Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts are presented on Kinopoisk by its partner, streaming service Amediateka. “As the other online cinemas working with Amediateka, we provide access to the content shared with us by the service,” the spokesperson said.
Okko said that the mentioned films will be unavailable from January 31, adding that Amediateka informed the service it had failed to prolong the rights.
Amediateka confirmed that “the license rights for the certain content – the Harry Potter films universe – expire duly on January 31.”
